Attending to both the social and spiritual needs of our community is an essential part of our ministry at Church of the Wayfarer. It’s our privilege to help organize, support and fund many worthwhile programs throughout the Monterey Peninsula. Church of the Wayfarer is pleased to host both homeless men and women at the church once per month. Donations of food and volunteers for set-up, clean-up and to dine with our guests are always needed and welcome. I-HELP offers program participants shelter and meals in over two dozen Monterey Peninsula congregations. The heart and backbone of this program operation are the hundreds of dedicated volunteers providing compassionate hospitality.
Each evening, I_HELP transports single homeless persons from central pick-up points to a hosting faith community where they spend the night. I-HELP’s ever growing services also include job placement and housing assistance, clothing, and specialized referrals meeting the individual needs of participants.
The Good Bank serves as the central hub providing high quality food, fresh produce, and educational & nutritional resources to our nonprofit member network – supplying more than 80% of all food distributed. Together we’re empowering thousands of caring, dedicated people every day to end hunger in Monterey County.
Interfaith Outreach of Carmel (IOC) is an organization of faith communities dedicated to ending a helping hand of service within Monterey County by “joining hands to reduce homelessness.
The Wayfarer Women is an organized unit of United Methodist Women, a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ. They seek to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church and outreach to the needs of the community.
